Ancient Mariner Terms and Conditions

ANCIENT MARINER FURNITURE reserves the right to change these terms and conditions from time to time without prior notice to you and the changes will take place on the day they are posted. Any such changes will be posted on our website.

TRADE ACCOUNTS
Ancient Mariner is a trade only supplier and requires evidence of business trading before supplying any potential customer. Please complete our Ancient Mariner Application Form, (which can be found on our website). We reserve the right to reject any application that is felt not ‘bona fide’ trade.


PRODUCT DESIGN
From time to time it may be necessary to change the design of items. The majority of our furniture is hand crafted and therefore sizes are offered as a guide. We reserve the right to change specification without prior notice.


PAYMENT
Payment is strictly by COD, all new accounts are required to pay pro-forma by either cash, debit/credit card or BACS. (unless prior arrangement has been agreed).  We accept all major credit cards except American Express. Please note a £10.00 charge will be incurred for unpaid/returned cheques. Until invoices are paid in full all products remain the property of Ancient Mariner.

PASSING OF PROPERTY

In accordance with the Sales of Goods Act 1979 the property in the goods shall not pass to you until the company has received cash or cleared funds payment in full of the price of the goods and all other sums due to the company from you (which shall include sums due to the company's associates or subsidiaries or from your associates or subsidiaries).  Until such time the relationship of the parties shall be regulated as follows:

  • it shall be your duty so far as it is reasonable to keep the contract goods separate and clearly identified as being the goods supplied pursuant to this contract
  • the company shall be entitled to inspect or repossess the goods (or goods to a similar value) by an authorised party and you wil allow and procure any necessary access to such party
  • you shall be entitled to pledge or in any way charge by way of security for any indebtedness any of the goods but if you do all monies owed by you to the company shall without prejudice to any other right or remedy you have have, forthwith become due and payable
  • it shall be your duty to maintain the goods in satisfactory condition insured on our policy for their full price against all risks to the reasonable satisfaction of the company and on request you shall produce the policy of insurance to the company, and
  • the proceeds of insurance referred to above shall be held by you on trust for the company and not mixed with any other money, nor paid into an overdrawn bank account

DELIVERIES
Our minimum invoice value for England, Wales and Scotland is £750.00 + VAT. Generally we use our own transport (Scottish Highlands and Ireland exceptions). Please advise of any issues, restricted delivery times etc. Our drivers are unaccompanied and may require assistance with heavier items. All deliveries to Ireland will incur a 5% surcharge towards the cost of delivery. Minimum invoice value is £500.00.

COLLECTIONS
There is no charge for you or your representative to collect your order from our warehouse. The collection must be booked in with the relevant warehouse the day before the collection. On booking in identification of the representative is required for instance vehicle registration number or courier company name. Your representative is deemed to be any person authorised to collect the goods on your behalf including any courier authorised by you.

RETURNS /DAMAGES/ DISCREPANCIES
All items on delivery must be inspected immediately and any damaged goods or discrepancies be reported within 48 hours.
Upon receipt of such information we will decide the appropriate action to take regarding replacement.
Goods are not accepted by us for return without prior consent and the appropriate collection documentation.
Goods that are collected by you or your representative must be inspected before loading. Once the goods have been accepted by you or your representative we accept no responsibility for damage or discrepancies including but not limited to faults deemed to be manufacturing faults.
Only manufacturing faults will be covered for up to 12 months after reciept of the goods.

CANCELLATIONS
All orders must be cancelled in writing via email and only prior to dispatch.


CASH AND CARRY/ SHOWROOM VISITS

Our warehouse is open for cash and carry collections Monday – Friday from 9am to 3pm.

All drawings, photographs, illustrations, dimensions, weights etc., have been provided by us in the belief that they are as accurate as reasonably possible, due to the handmade nature of our products slight tolerances may apply. We cannot be held responsible for colour variations or misinterpretations.

We reserve the right to alter any specification or finish without prior notice.


Like anything natural, Ancient Mariner furniture has a distinctive character which will only get better with age. Each piece has gone through a lengthy process in construction and is purposefully aged to give it even more character. We don’t try to hide irregularity…. In fact, we think it gives each piece that unique look!
