Old Empire Open Bookcase

Our Old Empire Open Bookcase is fascinating to look at, even before you display anything on it. It has no less than 7 shelves, plus an extra one on top of course. They are offset from each other in a design that would no doubt please the Dutch artist Mondrian.

Store and display. So you can place books, magazines or beautiful ornaments, plus files, flowers and family photos. Whatever you choose it is a statement piece.

Room with a view. Have it against a wall or on an alcove. Plus, you can access the shelves from both the front and back. So it's also an excellent room divider for open plan living.

Strong and ready for action. The strong industrial styling fuses steel and rough sawn mango wood together. We've already made it for you so there's no assembly required: you can just fill it with your things as soon as it arrives.

About our Old Empire Furniture Collection

Made from solid mango wood and steel, our Old Empire collection is a classic rustic industrial range. The wood is sourced from sustainable plantations ensuring a reliable and sustainable supply in the future. As with any natural product there will be variations in colour, grain and finish. This can be seen in the wood having a darker patch or rustic saw cuts and not being quite smooth and uniform shape of a manufactured piece of furniture. The steel used in this collection is made to compliment this and may have some imperfections itself. We feel that these variations are all part of the character of this wonderful range of furniture.

With the Old Empire collection, like all solid wood furniture, the wood lives on and needs to be cared for. With changes in temperature the wood may well move and split over time. This is a normal process and can happen especially in modern centrally heated houses or exceptionally hot weather. The wood is waxed to keep the rustic feel and if any cracking happens we suggest filling with natural wax.
